Travelling extensively for ten years, 28 year-old Czech journalist and documentary filmmaker Jakub Zahradnicek settled in Nairobi, Kenya, where he has been working on feature stories with the focus on everyday life and social issues.
After graduating from The Faculty of Journalism at Charles University in Prague, Czech Republic in 2003, Jakub made his career as a morning show "Crazy Reporter" for the biggest commercial radio station in the Czech Republic, "Radio Impuls".
Untill now he works as a freelancer photographer and reporter for various magazines and newspapers including Lidé a země (People and Earth), Týden (The Week), Travel Digest, Apetit, MF Plus, Esquire and many others.
In 2007, Jakub immerged himself into the television industry. He worked as a reporter, scriptwriter, cameraman and director for private production houses and TV's in the Czech Republic, including Real TV, Prima TV or Bedna TV.
After moving to Kenya in the beginning of 2008, he began freelancing as a TV journalist, documentary filmmaker and cameraman for diverse projects ranging from TV news pieces and documentary films to music videos and concerts (National Geographic Channel, A24 Media, Reuters African Journal, Hurricane Production, the Goethe Institut, the British Council etc.).
